The figure is rendered in stark monochrome, hyper-real from the lips down. But above, the face dissolves into sweeping vertical strokes of gold and white — unraveling, ascending, burning away. The cigarette is both anchor and offering, a ritual object held between fingers and mouth with an almost reverent ease.
